I have never seen a group of kids look so eager at equipment they
couldn’t even use yet! They all just sat along the wall and watched us
talk and work before going back to their class today. Their joy was very
subtle but infectious at the same time. As vols, we knew this day was
something big. Bigger than anything else we might have participated in
so far on this adventure. This was BIG.
At one point during classes, the grade 3 & 4 girls came out while the teeter totter had just been put in the ground. Memo gave them the okay and they all hopped on. The giggles you heard were so heart warming. These girls were so happy! It was such a candid moment, such a real moment I swear it will be ingrained in my memory. It makes you realize that some of the things we have in Western society have taken away our ability to enjoy the simple things.
I cannot wait until all the equipment is set and painted and all the kids can enjoy it.
